Module 7 : Future Learning Goals
One of the biggest things I have realized during my master’s program is that learning never really stops. If anything, this program has made me more aware of how much there still is to learn. Throughout my coursework, I have explored ideas about creativity, leadership, and technology in learning environments. Those topics made me think more deeply about how people learn, how environments shape that learning, and how leaders influence growth. As I move forward after finishing this degree, I want to continue building knowledge in a few areas that feel especially meaningful to me. These are not necessarily “career goals,” but rather areas where I want to keep learning so I can continue growing personally and professionally. The three areas I want to explore more deeply are creative learning design, the thoughtful use of technology in learning environments, and leadership development.
Creative Learning and Designing Better Learning Experiences
One area I want to keep learning about is how to design learning experiences that encourage creativity and problem solving. During this program, we talked a lot about how learning is often too structured or focused on finding the “right” answer. In many environments, people are told exactly what to do rather than being given the space to experiment, try things, and learn from mistakes. That idea stuck with me because real learning usually happens through exploration and iteration.
Moving forward, I want to learn more about how educators and coaches can intentionally design activities that allow learners to think creatively and develop their own solutions. Finding different learning opportunities like the Educators Learning Factory will help me grow and understand how to structure challenges, how to ask better questions, and how to create environments where people feel comfortable trying new things.
Using Technology in More Meaningful Ways
Another area I want to keep learning about is how technology can actually improve learning rather than just being added for the sake of using it. Technology is everywhere now, but that does not necessarily mean it is always being used well. During this program we explored different tools and ideas related to digital learning, which made me think more critically about when and why technology should be used.
What I want to continue learning is how technology can support deeper thinking, reflection, and collaboration. Instead of technology being a distraction or an extra step, it should help learners explore ideas, share perspectives, and build understanding.
One way to do this is by taking an online course called Smart Teaching and Learning with AI Specialization. This will help me learn innovative strategies and AI tools to design effective and future-ready learning experiences.
Leadership and Building Strong Learning Environments
The third area I want to keep learning about is leadership. Throughout my experiences in education and athletics, I have seen how much leadership shapes the environment that people learn and work in. Good leadership is not just about giving directions or making decisions. It is about creating a culture where people feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to grow.
Because of this, I want to continue learning about how leaders develop strong communities and help others reach their potential. This includes learning more about communication, trust building, and how leaders support growth in the people around them.
One way for me to do this is to network and attend live seminars at the AVCA Coaches Convention in 2026. This is a great opportunity for me to hear from leaders, build strong connections, and learn about how to foster a healthy and competitive team environment.
Learning as an Ongoing Process
Finishing a master’s program does not mean that learning is finished. In many ways, it feels like this program has simply helped me recognize how important it is to keep asking questions and continuing to grow. The areas of creative learning design, technology integration, and leadership development are three directions where I want to keep building my understanding.
This page represents an early step in that process. These goals will likely continue to evolve as I learn more and gain new experiences. What matters most to me is continuing to approach learning with curiosity and openness. If I can keep doing that, then learning will not end with this degree, it will simply continue in new directions.
