Research, Analysis, and Reflection

Category Overview

My artifacts are grouped into categories that reflect key areas of my development as an educator and coach. Each category highlights a different focus, showing how my thinking, values, and approach have evolved over time. Within each category, the artifacts demonstrate my ability to apply course concepts to real-world issues, while also reflecting my personal beliefs about leadership, athlete well-being, and decision-making.

Evolving Effectiveness

This assignment focuses on how I have grown over time in my ability to be an effective coach and educator. It highlights my understanding that effectiveness is not fixed, but something that develops through experience, reflection, and learning. I discuss how I’ve adapted my approach to better support athletes both on and off the court, showing a shift toward more intentional and athlete-centered coaching.

Addressing the Mental Health Crisis in Collegiate Athletics

In this assignment, I explore the importance of mental health in athletics and the responsibility coaches have in supporting their athletes. I focus on the growing mental health challenges athletes face and how creating a safe, supportive environment can make a difference. This piece reflects my commitment to prioritizing athlete well-being and being proactive in recognizing and addressing mental health concerns.

Too Young to Decide

This assignment examines the pressure placed on young athletes to make major decisions about their future too early. I reflect on the risks of early specialization and the expectations surrounding college and career paths. Through this, I emphasize the importance of allowing athletes time to grow, explore, and make informed decisions without unnecessary pressure.
